Getting closer to 4th of July

The hardest thing about having kids is trying to figure out what they would like to do for the 4th of July weekend.
Today we get our son (from Cloey's first husband) until Wednesday of next week because his Grandmother from Florida had something she needed to do and couldn't get him this weekend. Cloey's ex had a trip planned for the Daytona race with his girl friend so he will be out of town. What's going to be hard on us is that our son will be upset because his dad went to Florida with out him. His very close to his dad and I understand how hard it's going to be so this is one reason we're trying to figure out what to do.
I like to stay close to home so I think we are planning to go to the Square for the festival and then watch fireworks from town.
I remember when I was a kid you could see fireworks from your house and dad would always have some for us to shoot off. Those were the days but I lost that when I got older. I think next year I will try to show my kids how much fun it is to do things old school ways.
As for the rest of today I need to get some work done and keep planning for the weekend.
